The stage is set at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo for the first major test on dirt for 2-year-old colts. As part of an enticing Sunday card that also features the Clásico Carlos Casares (G3) for fillies, the young hopefuls will clash in the traditional Clásico Guillermo Kemmis (G3), contested over 1000 meters. A field of six is set to vie for early-season honors in what promises to be an exciting spectacle.

Among the entrants, Forgging stands out as a strong contender following an impressive debut victory on the turf at San Isidro. Trained by Pablo Sahagián, the son of Forge dominated by four lengths over 800 meters, though his performance came with some rough edges, hinting at untapped potential. Post-race, he was found to have shin issues, which only added to the merit of his initial triumph. Forgging will now switch surfaces, making his dirt debut with plenty of expectations.

Another eye-catching is Alado Frank, a representative of the first crop of Gidu (Frankel). He cruised to a three-length victory over Indie Joy (Roman Joy) in his maiden outing, also over 800 meters. His effortless performance left a strong impression and established him as a serious player for the Kemmis.

Vladimir (Il Mercato) also turned heads with his debut win, rallying powerfully to defeat Gran Porteñito (Dabster) by three lengths on the same straight course he’ll face again Sunday. Gran Porteñito, who also returns for the Kemmis, has since delivered notable efforts, adding intrigue to this rematch.

Representing Stud Tinta Roja, Gran Porteñito rebounded swiftly from his debut loss, edging Indie Joy by a head in his second outing. He then tackled San Isidro’s main track in the Clásico Congreve (L), finishing fourth in a tight race, just 3 1/2 lengths behind The Great Cash (The Great Day).

The Congreve also featured Fantasioso Pass (Distinctiv Passion), who finished third that day. Before that, he scored a narrow victory over Vendaval Joy (Roman Joy), who subsequently captured the Clásico Nueva Generación at La Plata. Fantasioso Pass, one of two entries for Haras El Alfalfar, will be joined by stablemate Exclamación Pass (Distinctiv Passion), who was fifth on debut but could improve off that experience.

With such an evenly matched field of promising juveniles, the Kemmis (G3) is set to deliver an intriguing battle, as these colts take their first steps toward a potentially illustrious future.
