LA PLATA.— The stars aligned, and Amigo Intimo took care of the rest, returning to the spotlight on Thursday at La Plata racetrack with a dominant victory in the Especial Full Sail (1400 meters, dirt). This was one of the feature events on a card that offered more than the usual fare.

With El Ernesto (Señor Candy), the overwhelming favorite, scratched—alongside three other withdrawals—and Vespaciano (Daniel Boone, 55 kg) blowing his chances with a slow start, Amigo Intimo seized the opportunity. The son of champion Todo Un Amiguito delivered a commanding performance, steadily building momentum before cruising home in style. Now approaching his 8th birthday, this win rekindled memories of his last major triumph in the Handicap British Empire at Palermo back in May 2023.

With Juan C. Rivarola in the irons and carrying 56 kilograms, the Stud El Rey S.A.O. runner trained by Víctor Villanueva surged wide on the turn, took command at the top of the stretch, and pulled away to an emphatic 8-length margin over Haka Maori (Señor Candy, 52 kg). Hieronymus (Interaction, 52 kg) finished another four lengths back in third. The race clocked in at 1:26.00 over a demanding surface.

Bred by Haras La Quebrada, Amigo Intimo justified his favoritism and now boasts six wins from 34 starts. His career earnings have surpassed 10,000,000 pesos, making his return to the winner’s circle a memorable one as he once again grabbed headlines.
