Adding to an exciting weekend, the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo will host Sunday racing, with the Clásico Miguel Ángel y Tomás Juárez Celman (G2) as the feature. The one-mile contest on the sometimes-unpredictable turf course is open to fillies and mares three and up under weight-for-age conditions.

A strong field of middle-distance specialists is set to face the starter, headlined by the accomplished Amiguita Gina, who has developed a remarkable affinity for Palermo’s inner turf track. The chestnut mare captured the Clásicos República Oriental del Uruguay (G3) and Espadaña in her last two starts over the course, adding to a local résumé that also includes victories in the Asociación de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera (G3)The Japan Racing Association (L), and Contraventora.

Versatile and capable of adapting to any pace scenario, the daughter of Todo Un Amiguito will square off against the highly regarded Abogada Brava (Cosmic Trigger), whose only two defeats came at the highest level, in last year’s Gran Premios Gilberto Lerena (G1) and Criadores (G1). Freshened after a lengthy layoff, Abogada Brava returned with an allowance score before adding the Handicap Badruddin, signaling she is back in peak form and ready for a return to graded company.

Also generating buzz is La Importadora (Bodemeister), who ended a seven-month absence with a dazzling allowance victory. However, she now faces the challenge of handling Palermo’s tricky turf for the first time.

A rising force from the handicap ranks, Viva Al Sur (South Kissing) steps up with high ambitions, while Byron Star (Equal Stripes) returns to the top level with momentum after a decisive victory in the Clásico Lucio Taborda (G3) at La Plata.

The promising three-year-olds Obra Clásica (Daddy Long Legs) and Terzina (Suggestive Boy) tackle their toughest test to date, while Che Mamita (Safety Check), still seeking her first stakes success, will be hoping for a hot early pace to set up her closing kick.
