LA PLATA – Unless something unexpected occurs and the scheduled programs are able to run as planned, the selective processes for fillies and colts will soon continue at the local racetrack.
This Friday, entries were made for the Andrés S. Torres (G3-1400m, dirt) and Asociación de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera (G3-1400m, dirt) classics, for fillies and colts respectively, which are scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, and Thursday, May 8.
For the first of these races, eight horses have been entered, including Calle de Tierra (Strategos), who had been leading the crop until losing her unbeaten record in the Clásico Fortunato Damiani (G3) to Citana (Endorsement), who is not on the list.
A previous winner of the Clásico Precoces, the Clásico Nueva Generación, and the Clásico Derli A. Gómez (G3), the representative of the El Gruñón stable could now face off against: Animal Beach (El Animal), Day Light (Hurricane Cat), Forti Leaf (Fortify), Hi Crystal (Hi Happy), La Tasmania (Mask), Ree Libertadora (Reelants), and Elenika(Winning Prize), another multiple winner in the race, having recently claimed her second victory in a local conditional.
On the colt side, nine potential runners are entered for the Asociación de Propietarios race, in the process of rebuilding the division after the departure of Takeshi Frank (Gidu), who had led the ranking until recently and was just sold to continue his campaign in the United States.
The first step without Takeshi Frank was the Clásico Luis María Doyhenard (G3), where Lago Nahuel Huapi(Hurricane Cat) defeated Cinco Tapón (Sixties Song) by half a neck and a head, with the two set to face each other again in a thrilling rematch.
Also potentially in the starting gates are: Aire de Mar (Treasure Beach), Animal Topic (El Animal), Bolero Frank(Gidu), Capital Boss (Daniel Boone), Gran Porteñito (Dabster), Muchacho Calavera (Mask), and Niño Samurai (Hat Ninja).
Entries and jockey commitments for both meetings will be accepted until 11 AM next Monday, with final race programs to be published in the afternoon. After that, fate will decide whether the races will be held, something that, recently, has been an unpredictable lottery at La Plata.
