Sarzana Pass and Verdadera Pass lead El Alfalfar’s team to face La Bella Otero, Emma Vaga, Jeanette, and Black Happy
The action on Sunday at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo will close with the Clásico Carlos Casares (G3), as the fillies take center stage in a competitive 1000-meter race on dirt. Six fillies will line up, all coming off wins, making for an evenly matched contest where any one of them could emerge victorious.
Among the key contenders is Sarzana Pass, a promising filly from Stud-Haras El Alfalfar, who is looking to exact revenge on La Bella Otero (Daddy Long Legs) after a close defeat in their debut. Sarzana Pass finished second by 1 1/2 lengths over 800 meters but quickly rebounded, securing a 3-length win in her next outing at the same distance.
Verdadera Pass, another filly from El Alfalfar, remains undefeated after a strong debut, winning by three-quarters of a length over Sun Is Shinning (Springdom) in a solid time of 55.46 seconds for the 1000 meters.
La Bella Otero, trained by José Luis Intra, will seek to confirm her dominance and prove she has the class to be a leading figure in the early stages of the selective season. Her win over Sarzana Pass in their first encounter has her in good form heading into this race.
Emma Vaga (Emmanuel) bounced back from a debut loss to Baby Pass (Distinctiv Passion) at San Isidro, and then took a 2-length victory over La Perdiz Pass (Distinctiv Passion) at Palermo, showing her potential to challenge for the top spot.
Jeanette (Remote) made a considerable leap forward in her second start, winning by four lengths in 57.97 seconds, and is now aiming to build on that success. Meanwhile, Black Happy (Hi Happy) will make the switch from turf to dirt after a flawless debut performance in San Isidro.
With such a competitive field, the Clásico Carlos Casares (G3) promises to be a thrilling showdown, as each filly looks to take a step forward in their journey through the early stages of the season.
