SHA TIN, Hong Kong (Special to Turf Diario) – Final entries have been released for Sunday’s FWD Champions Dayat Sha Tin, and South America will have a single representative on the world-class card in the Chilean-bred Racatan, who now races locally under the name Moments In Time.

A son of Lookin At Lucky out of Magia Para Todos (Rock of Gibraltar), the 5-year-old was bred by Haras Don Alberto and now campaigns for owner Tony Yue Kwok Leung. He is one of 11 runners set to contest the prestigious G1 FWD Queen Elizabeth II Cup (2000m, turf), where he’ll take on a formidable field that includes the star Goliath(Adlerflug), New Zealand’s El Vencedor (Shocking), Derby winner Cap Ferrat (Snitzel), and Japan’s Triple Tiara heroine Liberty Island (Duramente).

Trained by Danny Shum, who also conditions local legend Romantic Warrior (Acclamation), Racatan will be partnered by Brazilian ace Joao Moreira. The Chilean export has notched three wins in Hong Kong—twice at Happy Valley and once at Sha Tin—and was last seen finishing a close third, just a half-length behind Straight Arron (Fastnet Rock), in the G2 Chairman’s Trophy over a mile, a rival he will once again face on Sunday.

Racatan had an outstanding campaign in Chile prior to his export, highlighted by victories in the G1 Clásico Nacional Ricardo Lyon and G3 Cotejo de Potrillos. He also finished second in the G2 Clásico Criadores Machos and third in the G1 Clásico Alberto Vial Infante, all under the care of trainer Oscar Silva. Notably, he crossed the wire first in the G1 El Ensayo, only to be disqualified and placed out of the frame.

Though he finished fourth behind Rebel’s Romance (Dubawi) in the G1 Standard Chartered Champions & Chater Cup earlier this year, Racatan has shown meaningful progress this season, consistently employing a powerful off-the-pace style—one he’s likely to repeat as he flies the South American flag on one of Hong Kong’s biggest racing stages.
