Coni Fizz turned in a career-best performance Monday at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, powering home an emphatic five-length winner of the G3 Clásico Asociación de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera (1400m, turf), the feature of an entertaining card in the Argentine capital.

Second last time out to Champion Craf (Mastercraftsman) in the Clásico Doria over the San Isidro lawn, the gray filly showed significant progression here, asserting herself early in the stretch and finishing in hand, suggesting there’s still plenty more to come.

A 3-year-old daughter of MarconiConi Fizz came away from the gate with eagerness, wanting to go on with it. Jockey Martín Valle had to work to settle her along the rail, allowing favorite Early Life (Suggestive Boy) to take up the running through solid early splits.

But once into the straight, Coni Fizz quickly surged to the front and steadily widened her advantage, stopping the clock in 1:22.69 for the seven furlongs over firm ground. Causeway Girl (Dabster) chased in vain and had to settle for second, while Early Life held on well for third, another 1 1/2 lengths back.

Noche Alta (Hi Happy) was a distant fourth, turning in a somewhat below-par effort, and Guiltless (Full Mast) again proved erratic, finishing sixth.

Now a four-time winner from six startsConi Fizz had a six-month break between breaking her maiden in June and returning successfully in January. Out of the triple winner Azarella (Not for Sale), she hails from a rich female family anchored by April Fizz (Slew Gin Fizz), a half-sister to G1 winner April Talk (Confidential Talk). April Fizz would go on to produce G3 scorer Aprilla (Roy) and G1-placed Astróloga (Roy), the granddam of Maggie Go (Winning Prize), one of Argentina’s top fillies of 2024 and winner of the G2 Clásico Eliseo Ramírez.

This is a family developed by the historic Vacación and La Esperanza studs—and Coni Fizz looks ready to add another high-class chapter to that lineage.
