Gate to Wire, Crispado Key Takes the Especial Haras Firmamento

LA PLATA.- There was no contest for Crispado Key (58 kg) in the Especial Haras Firmamento (1100m, dirt fast), the race that capped off a successful double-header at El Bosque on Tuesday. Erasing the memory of his previous defeat at Palermo, and returning to the track where he excels, the son of Key Deputy displayed remarkable superiority over his rivals, despite carrying the top weight of 58 kg.
With Pedro E. Diestra in the saddle, the representative of Aeropuerto jumped out of gate 8, one of the widest, and quickly seized the lead. From there, he set a relentless pace and became untouchable.
What stood out was the ease with which he distanced himself in the stretch, despite the early exertion, crossing the line a full 7 lengths ahead of Lunático Blues (Le Blues, 54), who held off Eyes Have It (Il Campione, 56) and Old John (John F Kennedy, 52) by three-quarters of a length and a half, respectively. The final time was 1m4.8s.
Trained by Nicolás Correa, the bay was bred at Haras El Alfalfar and is out of the generous Cris the Cat(Easing Along), making him a full sibling to Crisostomo Key, who won 4 stakes races during his career, including the Clásico General Lavalle (G3).
Approaching 7 years old, Crispado Key continues to impress with his speed at El Bosque and is enjoying the best form of his career, now with 7 wins from 27 starts. He’s now eyeing the possibility of adding a stakes victory to his résumé in the near future to top off his career.
