Renowned Argentinian Haras Firmamento, the longtime operation of Juan Carlos Bagó, will present a draft of 40 yearlings, scheduled for Tuesday at the San Isidro Racecourse's Tattersall; the consignment features a blend of proven bloodlines and rising stallions, highlighted by siblings to stakes winners and promising offspring by Hit It a BombRemote, and Emotion Orpen.

A perennial highlight of Argentina’s yearling sales calendar, the Gran Venta Selección hosted by Haras Firmamento—the powerhouse nursery founded by Juan Carlos Bagó—returns Tuesday at San Isidro Racecourse, promising another strong chapter in the farm’s storied legacy as a wellspring of top-class talent for more than half a century.

The event, which is always more celebration than sale, will take place in the Tattersall at San Isidro under the direction of Antonio Bullrich SA., with proceedings set to begin at 2 p.m. following the traditional preview.

“We have solid expectations for this 2023 crop and for the sires whose progeny will be available to our clients and friends,” said Enrique Delger, a key figure in Firmamento’s commercial operations. “This group is a significant step up from 2024, and that’s been made clear by everyone who came to Villa Elisa to view the yearlings.”

In total, 40 yearlings—32 of them colts—will go through the ring, by sires such as Hit It a Bomb (War Front), Remote (Dansili), The Great Day (Harlan’s Holiday), Daniel Boone (Wild Event), Cityscape (Selkirk), Full Mast(Mizzen Mast), and members of the first crop by multiple Group 1 winner Emotion Orpen (Orpen).

“This will be the final crop by Remote bred at Firmamento. His 2021 foals have him leading the generation’s sire list, showing the value of the broodmare band we have here,” Delger said of the consistent stallion. “He’s in top form right now, and while there aren’t quite as many in the catalog as last year, several will be offered.”

Delger added: “As for Hit It a Bomb, this is his best group since his first crop, which produced five stakes winners. With the momentum his runners have now, we believe he can repeat that early success.”

Among the highlights, The Great Cocktail (The Great DayCocktail Attire, by Distorted Humor) is a half-brother to G1 winner Catch the Cocktail (Catcher In the Rye), while Celestial Day (The Great Day) is out of multiple graded stakes winner Celestial Candy (Candy Ride). As is tradition, Firmamento will offer 50% ownership in both colts.

Updated purchase terms have also been introduced: a 10% discount for cash payment, six-installment plans will use the official exchange rate on the day of sale, and ten-installment buyers will pay at the updated rate at time of each payment.

The catalog also features:

  • Champi Rim (Remote), half-brother to 2023 G1 Jockey Club winner Happy Happy Day (Hi Happy)

  • The Great Vin (The Great Day), from a dam who’s produced three stakes performers

  • Pecato Bomb (Hit It a Bomb), half to stakes winners Pecadora Joy and Pertinax Joy (Fortify)

  • The Great Week (The Great Day), a younger sibling to G1 winner Giacom (Giacomo)

  • The Great Rye (The Great Day), out of G3 winner Twins Rye (Catcher In the Rye)

  • Forever Bomb (Hit It a Bomb), half to recent G2 winner Tiz Joy (Fortify)

  • Daniel Lode (Daniel Boone), out of G2 winner Distinguida Lode (Lode)

  • Never Hit (Hit It a Bomb), half to G1 Copa de Plata heroine Joy Neverland (Fortify)

  • Olímpic Pen (Emotion Orpen), half to G2-placed Olímpica Hit (Hit It a Bomb)

With rich pedigrees and growing momentum behind its stallions, Firmamento’s 2025 Gran Venta Selección looks set to deliver yet another memorable sale—and perhaps unveil the next wave of stars to grace Argentina’s biggest stages.
