DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (Special to Turf Diario) - For the second time in a month Francisco Leandro traveled to this city to be part of a meeting at Meydan, this time riding the Argentineans Satu (Catcher In the Rye) and Giustino (Full Mast) in the Fashion Friday.

However, the return will not be as happy as it was in December, as his rides were not outstanding, although the Brazilian rider is inclined to remain optimistic and look to the future.

In general terms, and by way of balance, Leandrinho says: “I am a little sad about the horses' performances. We knew they were very complicated races, but one always expects a good performance, especially with two horses that have already demonstrated their level”.

Regarding Satu, who ended up last in the Al Fahidi Fort (G2), contested over 1400 meters on turf, the professional commented: “The race was difficult. He made the lead comfortably, but, when it came to the straight they caught up with him quickly, and, although he didn't go very far (he crossed the line less than 9 lengths behind), he got tired. We'll see what's left of the season to look ahead and try to get revenge”.

Francisco Leandro also rode Giustino, the winner of the last Polla de Potrillos (G1) at Palermo, in the UAE 2000 Guineas (G1), over a mile and in the dirt track. When it came to the balance, he said: “He came out great the first meters, but when he began to receive the kickback in the head, he stretched out and became uncomfortable. In the straight, with more freedom and when I demanded it, he started again and came running. I think he should improve a lot from here on. He was training a little lighter and for the next race he should show his true potential”.

Turf has its joys and sorrows, but perhaps the best thing is that it almost always gives revenge...
