February concluded, and it’s time for a new review of the statistics organized by the Stud Book Argentino, where stallion Il Campione, Haras El Paraíso, Stud Firmamento, and Orpen among the maternal grandsires are leading the rankings.

Haras El Paraíso, a dominant force among breeders for several seasons, is on the verge of surpassing 300,000,000 pesos in earnings through 49 wins and 6 stakes victories, leaving Firmamento behind, which also had a strong start. La Pasión is in third place, followed by Abolengo and Vacación, in a top 5 that has remained nearly the same, with only minor variations.

When it comes to sires, no one is surprised to see the Chilean champion Il Campione (Scat Daddy) at the top, this time ahead of Remote (Dansili), who made a strong start and won the most races in the first two months (26). Fortify (Distorted Humor) is in third place, while Hi Happy (Pure Prize) and Angiolo (Grand Reward), both Made in Argentina, complete the top 5.

In terms of maternal grandsires, seeing Orpen at the top of the ranking is also not surprising. The champion who stood at Carampangue for most of his life has now taken the lead after the long reign of Southern Halo (Halo).

Although the margin isn’t wide, Orpen has already established a solid lead over Easing Along (Storm Cat), with Intérprete (Farnesio) in third, followed by Pure Prize (Storm Cat) and Sebi Halo (Southern Halo), all fairly close.

Firmamento had an excellent February with its homebreds, taking the lead among owners after securing 10 wins, with La Providencia in second, bolstered by Grezzo’s (Hi Happy) victory in the Gran Premio Miguel A. Martínez de Hoz (G1)El AlfalfarTinta Roja, and Mamina round out the top 5.

Finally, in the horse rankings, the aforementioned Grezzo is the clear leader due to his victory in the first G1 race of the year, ahead of Obra Clásica (Daddy Long Legs), Luz Delito (Lizard Island), Look Portal (Portal del Alto), and Honest Boy (Heliostatic).

Below are the national rankings as of February 28, compiled by the Stud Book Argentino:
