The winner of the last Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1) was buyed for a Saudi Owner and hope to have a place in any of the meeting's races
The Argentine horse is sought after, prized. The results they have historically achieved in many of the great races around the world make them attractive and that is why it is not surprising that the best local horses continue their racing careers abroad, acquired by foreign owners.
Intense for Me, the winner of the last Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1) left Ezeiza Airport in the last few hours for Saudi Arabia, bought by an important local owner with the intention of competing in some of the races that on February 22nd will shape the Saudi Cup meeting at the King Abdulaziz Racecourse.
The son of Fortify, trained by Nicolás Martín Ferro for Stud Toroquemero, will take approximately 70 hours to arrive in Riyadh, where he will have to complete the necessary veterinary procedures before being released to continue his training.
A 4-year-old, 5 in the northern hemisphere, the chestnut is pre entered for the Saudi Cup (G1-1800 m, sand, US$ 20,000,000 purse), but not for the Neom Turf Cup (G2-2100 m, turf, US$ 2,000,000) or the Red Sea Turf Handicap (G2-3000 m, turf, US$ 2,500,000).
The other Argentine horses nominated for the Saudi Cup are El Kodigo (Equal Stripes), who on February 10 will make the same trip as Intense for Me, Auto Bahn (Asiatic Boy) -injured-, Giustino (Full Mast) and Wages (Lucullan). Also on the list are Peruvian Gluck (Koko Mambo) and Uruguayan Suablenanav TH (T.H. Approval), the latter soon to be bound for the United States.
Intense for Me, who was bred by Haras Abolengo and is a half brother to G1 In Your Honor (Asiatic Boy), G2 In Her Honour (Exchange Rate) and G1 placed International Look (Cosmic Trigger), has won eight of his 15 starts, He has also won the America (G2), Forli (G2), Buenos Aires (G3), Vilmar Sanguinetti and Candy Ride classics, as well as being second in the Gran Premio Estrellas Classic (G1) and in the Horacio Bustillo Classic (G3), and third in the San Martin (G1) and in the Gold Cup (G1).
