The farm held its first-ever yearling sale, with the son of Made You Look (pictured) leading the way, purchased for US$ 49,000 by Mauro Castellazzi
The 2024 yearling sales season kicked off on Sunday, with Haras Gran Muñeca breaking the ice as it made its auction debut, marking a new chapter for the farm that bred, among others, Full Serrano (Full Mast), the most recent winner of the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1).
With 50 yearlings on offer and the sale conducted entirely online under the organization of (Arg) Sales, the highest price was set by Intruso, part of the first crop of the highly promising Made You Look (More Than Ready). He was purchased for US$ 49,000 by Mauro Castellazzi for his Stud Pauli, the same silks carried by Takeshi Frank (Gidu), the champion juvenile at La Plata, who was also bred by Gran Muñeca. Cataloged as Hip 4, the dark bay colt is out of Iriana (Pure Prize), a dual winner who has already produced Iron Forge (Forge), runner-up to El Encinal (Il Campione)—the future Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1) winner—in the 2023 Clásico Ensayo (G3). He hails from the family of champion Irwin (Seek Again).
The second-highest price came for Jurassic Lake, part of the second generation of the promising Gidu (Frankel) and out of Jericoacoara (Agnes Gold), a half-sister to G1 winner Menino do Río (Fortify). He fetched US$ 29,000, also secured by Mauro Castellazzi.
Rounding out the top three prices, Full Lujoso (Full Mast—Luxuria, by Orpen) and Stade de France (Made You Look—Stormy Mecha, by Bernstein) each sold for US$ 27,000, both acquired by Mauro Castellazzi.
Of the yearlings offered in the virtual ring, 21 did not meet their reserve price, while the remaining 29 grossed US$ 566,500, yielding an average price of US$ 19,534 and a median of US$ 18,289.
