LIMA, Peru (Special to Turf Diario) - The filly La Kika (Badge Of Silver) swept the board on Wednesday, now in its 41st edition, at the long-awaited Postin Awards, organized annually by the Association of Peruvian Racehorse Breeders (ACCCP).
Winner of the fillies Triple Crown in 2024 also received triple recognition, starting with the title of Horse of the Year, becoming the seventh mare in history to receive the highest award and the first to obtain it since Lady Shatzi (Privately Held) won it in 2008. Just a few days ago, another filly, Thorpedo Anna (Fast Anna), won the same trophy at the Eclipse Awards in the United States. Girl Power, as they call it.
Before them were Batuka (USA-Batel Motel) and Madame Equis (Book The Band) in a tie in 1999, La Union (Lutz) in 1994, Mari July (Daring Scheme) in 1990 and Texfina (Utopian) in 1987.
Amidst a close vote, La Kika beat Gluck (Koko Mambo), Don Feres (Singe The Turf), Manyuz (USA-Run Away And Hide), Magic Power (Power World) and Raine Elizabeth (Meal Penalty) in the top category.
Owned by Stud Amistad, trained by Luis Químper, was also awarded as Champion 3-Year-Old Filly (dirt) and Champion 3-Year-Old Filly (turf), in the latter category, beating Argentina's Forty Angela (Fortify) in a close vote.
In the meantime, her dam, Azarenka (USA-Street Hero), was named Broodmare of the Year. The matron, in 2020, had produced Avispado (Yazamaan), Champion 2-year-old male.
Another close vote was for Champion Older Horse, where the award went to Manyuz over Gluck. The victory in the Gran Premio Latinoamericano (G1) and the international rating (114) were decisive to beat the five-time group winner last season.
Meanwhile, the notable grey Don Feres (Singe the Turf) and Raine Elizabeth (Meal Penaly) won in the Champion Stayer (turf) and Champion Sprinter categories, respectively, adding three trophies each to their campaign.
Power World (USA-Distorted Humor), leader of the overall breeding statistics in a formidable year, was named Stallion of the Year and Haras Los Azahares received the Breeder of the Year award.

Champion 3 year old female: La Kika.

Champion Stayer: Manyuz
