RIYADH, Arabia Saudit.- "No news is good news" is a phrase nearly everyone has come across at some point. The first recorded version of this now-popular saying is often attributed to King James I of England, who in 1616 reportedly said, "No news is better than bad news."

And indeed, that expression perfectly sums up the quiet yet reassuring morning at King Abdulaziz Racetrack for Intense for Me (Fortify), El Kodigo (Equal Stripes), and Giustino (Full Mast)—the three Argentine and South American contenders set to line up for Saturday’s renewal of the Saudi Cup (G1).

As usual, Intense for Me was out for a light jog under the lights, stretching his legs over the main track as he continues to regain form after a taxing journey that left him somewhat dehydrated. The Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1) winner is steadily bouncing back, regaining strength with each passing day.

At precisely 7:00 a.m., following a track maintenance break, El Kodigo made his appearance—completely unfazed. Easing into his routine, he jogged against the rail to the stretch entrance before smoothly transitioning into a gallop, covering a lap and a half with effortless ease. Resembling a horse in peak condition, the dark bay continues to impress with how well he has handled the experience, fueling the dreams of his team.

After his work, he returned calm as a lamb, took a lap by the starting gate, and headed back to his quarantine barn as if nothing had happened.

Later in the morning, following another maintenance break, Giustino finally had his chance to get acquainted with the track ahead of his Saudi Derby (G3) bid. The chestnut colt arrived a bit later than planned after shipping in from Dubai on Tuesday, but he made an imposing first impression. Physically stunning, though slightly agitated by the new surroundings, his behavior was nothing out of the ordinary. Under the watchful eye of Julio Olascoaga, he completed an easy jogging lap—mission accomplished.

"No news is good news," indeed, for the South American contingent ahead of another high-stakes Saudi Cup meet. With raceday fast approaching, that was the best news they could have asked for.
