The Argentine and the Chilean are aiming for a strong performance in the race, where the American Raging Torrent is considered a contender

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (By a special correspondent) – South American representation at the 2025 Dubai World Cup (G1) will come from the Argentine Oasis Boy (Asiatic Boy) and the Chilean Mufasa (Practical Joke), both confirmed for the Godolphin Mile (G2-1600m, dirt, US$1,000,000) in the third race of the meeting, alongside 12 other contenders.
With the confirmed absences of Cagliostro (Upstart) and the brave Meshtri (Medaglia D'Oro), the task for the South American duo hasn’t become any easier, although both have plenty of reasons to expect a strong showing.
Under the care of Doug Watson, Oasis Boy had a season with ups and downs but won on his debut and comes into this race after a great second-place finish in the Burj Nahar (G3), behind Fort Payne (Río de la Plata), after starting from gate one and putting in a great effort early on. Christophe Soumillon will ride him.
Meanwhile, Mufasa will make his local debut under the guidance of Bhupaat Seemar for RRR Racing, following a stellar campaign in the United States for Carlos Saavedra and Stud Los Leones, trained by Ignacio Correas (Jr.). In his last outing, he defeated White Abarrio (Race Day) in the Mr. Prospector Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park, but the many changes he’s undergone in recent weeks remain an unknown. Physically, he’s in impeccable condition, as always. Tadhg O'Shea will be his jockey.
The leading contender for the Godolphin Mile is the American Raging Torrent (Maximus Mischief), trained by Doug O'Neill and to be ridden by Frankie Dettori, with his most recent achievement being a win in the Malibu Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita Park.
Japan brings two tough names with Peptide Nile (King Kamehameha) and Kazy Petrin (Rulership), while the aforementioned Fort Payne and King Gold (Anodin), returning to the distance and track where he beat Laurel River(Into Mischief) in the Firebreak Stakes (G3), could also make an impact.
