Always held in high regard, the Fortify filly from Firmamento secured the first stakes victory of her career

In football, there is a saying that goals aren’t earned, they’re scored. Well, adapting this phrase to horse racing, Pecadora Joy had certainly earned a stakes victory through her impressive performances, yet for one reason or another, she had not been able to secure one.
That barrier was finally broken by the Firmamento filly after a comeback in which she had run quietly, shaking off the effects of her inactivity and preparing herself for a performance as solid as the one that earned her this Sunday's victory in the Clásico Jamelao (L-1400 m) on the wet dirt track at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo.
Under the weight-for-age scale, the Fortify daughter made sure her 9 rivals felt her experience and racing class, easily defending her status as the favorite, paying $1.35. With Martín Valle aboard, and always poised, the bay filly followed the pace of the leader Plácida Campiona (Il Campione), overtook her as they entered the final stretch, and was never in any real trouble.
With a steady stride, she pulled away to win by 4 lengths over Life Starts Now (Qué Vida Buena), who edged out Isolation (Suggestive Boy) by a head in the final jump, completing the race in a brilliant 1m21s92/100.
Carlos D. Etchechoury trains Pecadora Joy, another solid offspring of the very successful Pecadora Inc (Include), also the dam of Pecato Joy, who has 3 handicaps to his name, and Pertinax Joy, hero of the Clásico Batalla de Tucumán, both also by Fortify.
The third dam of Pecadora Joy is G3SW Pecan Pie (Equalize), sharing the same pedigree as G1 winners Newmarket (Salt Marsh), Forty Licks (Not for Sale), Alert (Southern Halo), Numeraria (Southern Halo), and Real Number(Rainbow Corner), among others.
With 4 victories this season, all at Palermo, and the maturity on her side, Pecadora Joy seems ready to take on graded stakes in the middle distances, races where she has already been competitive, even coming close to crossing the line first.
