Long layoffs took their toll on several contenders in the Handicap Resuello (1100m, dirt), but it was Príncipe Soñado who delivered the surprise, returning to the winner’s circle after nearly 10 months.

Trained in Santa Rosa, La Pampa by Darío Periga but saddled by Juan Carlos Amor, the son of Fragotero and Nazarena Bid (Contested Bid) carried 58.5kg without issue, finishing strongest in a well-timed rally. He defeated fellow Pampeano runner Gran Compañero (South Kissing, 57kg) by 1 1/2 lengths, with Tabacano (Fortify, 54.5kg) another length back in third. The final time was a sharp 1:01.59.

The race did not go as planned for returning runners Le Cornette (Emmanuel, 60kg) and El Fruto (Il Campione, 60kg), who settled for fourth and fifth, respectively. Ruler Man (Manipulator, 54.5kg), the post-time favorite, could do no better than sixth.

With Maranelo (Holy Boss) the lone scratch, another disappointment was León Americano (Zensational, 59kg), who trailed the field far behind.

Facundo Coria once again delivered a polished ride aboard Príncipe Soñado, who, approaching his sixth birthday, secured the fifth victory of his career—and his second at stakes level, following his win in the Clásico Día de la Bandera in June 2024.
