LA PLATA, Argentina—The Especial Haras Cumeneyén (1100 m, dirt) will serve as the second most significant race of today’s card at Hipódromo de La Plata. Open to fillies and mares four years old and up with at least three career victories, the contest offers a purse of 3,600,000 pesos to the winner and marks the return of the talented Rosas del Rosedal to competition.

The Forge filly has been on the sidelines since June 20, when she finished fifth, four lengths behind Rudy Trigger (Cosmic Trigger) in the G3 Clásico General Manuel Belgrano. However, prior to that, she had delivered strong performances, including a victory in the G3 Clásico Arturo A. Bullrich and a runner-up effort behind Simpática Peluquera (War Command) in the Clásico Potri Pe.

Carrying 56 kilograms, the Juan Diestra-trained dark bay will face stiff competition, including Male Brown (Malenchini, 56), a consistent performer in the top-level races at La Plata. In her latest effort, Male Brown finished fourth behind Truly Princess (Daddy Long Legs) in the Clásico Santiago Luro, just a neck behind Castell Queen (Daniel Boone, 54), who also reappears here and looms as a formidable rival.

Another key contender is Una Causa (True Cause, 60), the highweight of the field. Returning to La Plata after two solid performances in handicaps at Palermo, she was last seen here taking the Especial República de Panamá, where she narrowly defeated the speedy Doña Chila (Peten Itza) in a thrilling finish.
