LA PLATA, Argentina–Thursday’s card at the Bosque will feature a double dose of black-type action, with the Clásico AP Candy (2100m, dirt) and the Especial Haras Santa María de Araras (1200m) offering the afternoon’s top attractions. The former is for 4-year-olds and up under weight-for-age conditions, while the latter gathers older fillies and mares with a minimum of three wins on their résumé.

The AP Candy looks like an ideal opportunity for Rumor de Fuego to continue climbing the local distance ranks. The northern-bred son of Daddy Long Legs comes off a commanding 8-length score over Homer Elmeromero (Treasure Beach) in the Clásico Comparación (L), a race where Che Banquero (Greenspring) ran third before bouncing back to crush his rivals by 11 in the Clásico Malvinas Argentinas.

If he shows up in peak form, Rumor de Fuego will be tough to beat. If not, the up-and-coming Furious Desain (Furious Key) looms as the main threat, riding a two-race winning streak at the allowance level and showing steady progression.

Also coming off a win, this one over 1800 meters in Palermo, Demonio Risk (Security Risk) will make his first visit to La Plata looking to shake things up. Boyero Spring (Greenspring) and Madero Al Compás (a fellow Daddy Long Legsrunner) round out a cast with the potential to make the finish interesting.

As for the Especial Haras Santa María de Araras, things look far more evenly matched. Ingres (Galicado), who returns to La Plata after a productive stint in Palermo, might hold a slight edge. She was fourth, beaten only 3 1/4 lengths by Candy and Giant (Giant’s Pleasure) in the Handicap Jacinto Rafael Herrera last time out. Earlier this season, she won the Especial Carmelinda here and was runner-up in the Clásico Sociedad Hipódromo Chile.

From San Isidro comes Soy Yarquén (Seize), a filly of notable talent battling through some minor physical setbacks but still capable of flashing her best. Meanwhile, Una Pasional (Señor Candy) could bounce back in a big way after a dull recent effort.
