The Daddy Long Legs colt lived up to his credentials, drawing clear to defeat Homer Elmeromero by an emphatic eight lengths

LA PLATA.- It wasn’t even a race for Rumor de Fuego in the Clásico Comparación (L, 2200m, dirt), the feature event on Sunday at the deteriorating Bosque racetrack, which offered a meager 5,510,000 pesos purse for the winner. Confirming everything he had shown in previous outings, the Stud Comalal representative—co-favorite alongside his stablemate Lágrimas y Sonrisas (Le Blues)—handled the task with ease, asserting himself as one of the most promising stayers to watch this season.
Under the guidance of Jorge Peralta, the dark bay colt tracked the leader, Santo Sermón (Treasure Beach), closely, took command midway through the bend, and in the stretch, showcased impressive superiority, quickly drawing away and cruising to the wire, saving energy for what’s to come.
In the end, he left Homer Elmeromero (Treasure Beach) eight lengths behind in second, with Che Banquero(Greenspring) finishing third, a half-length back. The aforementioned Lágrimas y Sonrisas took fourth, a nose further behind. Santo Sermón, the early leader, faded to finish last, a further three lengths adrift. The final time was 2m20s36/100, with splits of 26.30, 51.85, 1:17.36, 1:41.86, and 2:07.39.
Rumor de Fuego had recently finished second in the Clásico Clausura (G2) and third in the Uruguay, not to mention his runner-up finish in August 2024 in the Clásico General José de San Martín (G3) at the mile.
Trained by Carlos Cardón at Campo 2 in San Isidro, and bred by José Aladro at Haras Los Turfistas, Rumor de Fuego is yet another successful son of Daddy Long Legs, following in the footsteps of other distance specialists like Ever Daddy, Cuan Chef, Mezzopiano, and Poker Mommy.
Rumor de Fuego is the second foal out of Roman Winner (Roman Ruler), a winner at San Isidro and a granddaughter of Wooden Whistle (In Reality), imported from the United States and the dam of the champion sprinter Wooden Girl(Mariache) in Argentina. This family also features names like The Great Day (Harlan's Holiday) and Glory Seattle(Seattle Fitz) in another branch.
