Over 1500 meters on dirt, the daughter of Cosmic Trigger impressed, winning by three lengths and securing a spot in the Gran Premio Jorge de Atucha (G1)

The unusual Thursday afternoon of races at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo featured some standout moments in the conditional races, in addition to the highlighted Jacinto Rafael Herrera and Resuello handicaps.
The main focus was on the 1500 meters of the Premio Wally, where 2-year-old fillies competed under the same conditions as those for the upcoming Gran Premio Jorge de Atucha (G1), which will be run in less than a month.
And the expectations were met with a notable performance from Sachi, the half-sister of record horse Satu (Catcher In the Rye), who showed no signs of inexperience, winning by a comfortable three lengths over the heavy favorite La Banda (Fortify), stopping the clock at 1m30s94/100.
Giving a perfect debut for Stud Pan American Partners, and with support from the experienced jockey Francisco Leandro and trainer Nicolás Martín Ferro, Sachi is a daughter of Cosmic Trigger and Sa Talaia (Equal Stripes), bred by Haras Abolengo. Based on this Thursday’s performance, expect to hear a lot about her this season.
Another race that generated interest and was eagerly awaited was the Premio Mississipi, which closed the day with 4-year-old horses with 1 or 2 victories competing over 1400 meters. While the favorite Rammel (Fortify), winner of the Montevideo (G1) in 2023, returned with a fourth-place finish, all the accolades went to the Brazilian Uqayr (Hat Trick x Polynesie, by Top Hat, Beverly Hills Stud), who won by a neck and head over Atomic Trigger (Cosmic Trigger) and Barovero (Hi Happy), with a time of 1m49s4/100.
From Stud Belair, owned by Alessandro Arcángeli, Uqayr was presented by Carlos Alberto Medina and ridden by apprentice Lucas González, who already has 88 victories to his name and is just 12 wins away from being able to claim a 2-kilo weight allowance.
Lastly, the 3-year-old filly Rumba Feroz (Hurricane Cat x Rocelina, by Catcher In the Rye, José Aladro) also deserves mention, as she celebrated her second victory in a solid campaign, taking the Premio Quibbler (1200 m, dirt). With José Leonardo up, the chestnut filly trained by Juan Carlos and Juan Sebastián Maldotti won by three lengths over Joy Toscana (Fortify).
