Sarzana Pass and the colors of Stud-Haras El Alfalfar continue to dominate the young speed division at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo. Once again, the Distinctiv Passion filly was untouchable over the kilometer of the Buenos Aires dirt track, claiming victory in the Clásico Carlos Pezoa, the feature race of a pleasant Sunday afternoon.

This time, with Francisco Leandro in the saddle, the filly trained by Héctor Calvente led a one-two finish for Alfredo Camogli’s stable, defeating her half-sister Baby Pass by a head, with Vendaval Joy (Roman Joy) putting in a stellar performance to finish third, a half-length behind.

As usual, Sarzana Pass broke sharply to lead and maintained a clear advantage throughout the race, never allowing any pressure from her rivals. Her pursuers closed in at the finish, but never threatened her.

The filly completed the race in a solid time of 55.4 seconds, securing her fourth victory in six starts, with two second-place finishes. Three of those wins came in condition races, having previously triumphed in the Clásico Carlos Casares(G3) and the Especial Gay Hermit.

The goal for Sarzana Pass is the Junior Sprint (G3) at Las Estrellas, although she is likely to have another outing before then to ensure she is in peak form.

Baby Pass also impressed, showing the same potential she did when finishing third behind Secreto a Voces (Springdom) in the Clásico Islas Malvinas (L) on the San Isidro turf just a few days ago.

Sarzana Pass is the second foal of the talented Genovesa Key (Key Deputy), winner of the Clásico Venezuela (G2), and also a daughter of the G2-winning mare La Toscana Cat (Easing Along), from the family of Lagoa Azul (Lenovo), the best sprinter among the mares at Palermo at the moment.

At two years old, Sarzana Pass has firmly established herself as a dominant force in the speed division. She doesn’t always win by several lengths, but she always finds a way to come out on top.
