OCALA, Florida (Special for Turf Diario) – The Ocala Breeders' Sales' 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale came to a close this Thursday, and among the highest prices and the millions spent, several South American connections made their mark.

To start, the top price of $3,000,000 was paid for a colt by Gun Runner, the best son of Argentine champion Candy Ride (Ride the Rails) at stud, which captured the attention of the team of Saudi owner Amr Zedan (Zedan Racing), who, for the third consecutive season, secured the top lot of the event. This price surpassed the previous record for the auction, set in 2017 when Coolmore paid $2,450,000 for a son of Tiznow, but that was in April.

The spectacular grey colt was a standout in his workout over the traditional 1 furlong, covering it in a remarkable 9.3/5 seconds. Consigned by Eddie Woods, he is out of Tynan (Liam's Map), a two-time winner at three, and a half-sister to G2 Pappacap (Gun Runner) and G3 Boppy O (Bolt D'Oro), from the same family as Al Qasr (Aptitude), the Peruvian champion who won the Gran Premio 25 de Mayo (G1) at the Hipódromo de San Isidro in Argentina.

The second-highest price of the sale, and the highest for a filly, was for a daughter of Maxfield (Street Sense), the Godolphin stallion who stood at Haras Firmamento in Argentina during 2023 and 2024.

The Marquee Bloodstock paid $1,250,000 for the filly, who clocked 9.4/5 seconds during her workout. Her dam is All In With Aces (Quiet American), who produced the G1 winner Hard Aces (Medaglia D'Oro) and the stakes winner Astrollinthepark (Divine Park).

In total, seven horses fetched seven figures, with Maxfield being the only stallion to appear multiple times on that short list. Additionally, another son of Maxfield (who also worked in 9.4/5) reached $1,000,000, purchased by Japanese buyer Mitsu Nakauchida. This colt is the second foal out of the excellent Eyeinthesky (Sky Mesa), a stakes winner during her racing career.

Maxfield has 84 foals born at Firmamento as part of his first crop, and a similar number is expected for the current breeding season.
