The son of Hi Happy battled on the front end with Gritalo Carlitos, and in the stretch, he drew off with total authority

LA PLATA.- A few weeks ago, Storm Sound hinted at a return to top form in the Especial Haras El Paraíso, recalling the brilliance that earned him last season's Clásico 25 de Mayo de 1810 (G2). On Thursday, the son of Hi Happy confirmed that impression with a dazzling victory in the Clásico Fortunato Novara (G3), contested over a mile on a fast dirt track against a tough field.
The performance from the Stud El Cárcara runner was nothing short of impressive. Bursting from the gates, he dueled through swift fractions with the juvenile Gritalo Carlitos (Malenchini). Once they turned for home, Storm Sound found another gear, drawing off with authority to win stylishly in a sizzling time of 1:35.56.
At the wire, Storm Sound held a commanding four-length advantage over the promising Gritalo Carlitos, who left a strong impression in his stakes debut. Three lengths behind him, the favorite Es Aristocrático (Angiolo) settled for third, failing to produce the punch he had shown in shorter sprints.
Regarding Es Aristocrático, it is worth noting that he was trying a mile for the first time, having stretched out from 1200 meters in a short span. Judging his aptitude for the distance off this single effort would be premature.
Don Taimado (Il Campione) checked in fifth, finishing 8 1/2 lengths behind the winner, while Sapporo (Japan) disappointed, fading to sixth after being expected to show more.
Trained by Omar Labanca, Storm Sound was expertly piloted by the ever-reliable Lautaro Balmaceda. Bred by Haras Carampangue, he is the first foal out of Stormy Morning (Orpen), a dual winner at San Isidro who has also produced the La Plata scorer Stormy Evening (Seek Again), a promising 3-year-old.
With this powerful performance in the Fortunato Novara, Storm Sound launches his campaign in the Bosque's middle-distance division full of confidence. If he can maintain this form, he will be a formidable contender for the season ahead.
