The exceptional level of competition set for the Haras Argentinos Stakes (Listed, 2000m, dirt) is a welcome highlight, especially on a card otherwise filled with lower-tier categories and conditional races that have become all too common. Despite the underwhelming overall lineup for Friday's meeting at Palermo, the feature race is shaping up to be unmissable.

Scheduled for 3-year-olds and up, the Haras Argentinos Stakes boasts a modest winner's prize of 10,605,000 pesos but promises a high-caliber showdown. Two standout contenders lead the field: Super Inter (Super Saver), who is in the form of his life, and Natan (Señor Candy), looking to rekindle his past glory.

At six years old, Super Inter is riding a three-race winning streak on the Palermo dirt, having captured the Listed Carlos Gardel, Irineo Leguisamo, and Gobierno de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires Stakes in succession. Representing the Stud Disco Eterno, this will be his second attempt at the Haras Argentinos, having finished fourth in 2023 when champion Malibu Spring (Greenspring) edged out the formidable Balsamic (Equal Stripes).

On the other hand, Natan boasts an illustrious resume, with victories in the 2022 Gran Premio Jockey Club (G1) as a 3-year-old and the 2023 Gran Premio Estrellas Classic (G1). However, his recent form has been limited by health setbacks, with just three starts since his Classic triumph. These include a third-place finish in the 2023 Gran Premio Latinoamericano Longines (G1) and unplaced efforts in the last two editions of the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1), the most recent coming off a year-long layoff. A true talent, Natan’s readiness could make him as formidable as ever.

Other notable entrants include the G1 winner Rammel (Fortify), who has struggled to regain his top form, and Endor Rye (Endorsement), who drops back in trip after an impressive win over 2500m in the Ayacucho Stakes (G3), defeating Epityrum (Portal del Alto).

With Super Inter’s consistency and Natan’s proven class, the Haras Argentinos promises a thrilling prelude to Palermo’s upcoming Championship season.
