San Isidro Racecourse announced in the last hours what will be the purse for the Gran Premio Miguel A. Martínez de Hoz, first G1 of the season in Argentina, to be run over 2000 meters on the turf track on Saturday, February 15.
Open for 3yo and older, will offer 70,000,000 pesos in prize money, of which $ 35,000,000 will go to the winner. Compared to the previous season, the increase will be more than 100 percent, since, when Full Keid (Full Mast) won almost 12 months ago, a total of $ 30,000,000 was distributed, and 15,000,000 were destined to the first place.
The reward is completed with: $ 12,250,000 to the second, $ 7,000,000 to the third, $ 4,550,000 to the fourth, $ 3,850,000 to the fifth, $ 3,150,000 to the sixth, $ 2,450,000 to the seventh and $ 1,750,000 to the eighth.
Owners who want to be in the starting field must pay a total entry fee of $ 1,400,000, of which $ 140,000 will be paid at the time of registration and the remaining $ 1,260,000 when it is time for the ratifications.
As it is customary in all its maximum scale tests, the horses must pass a pre-competitive test with a negative result.
The entries for the Martínez de Hoz will be taken until noon on Monday, February 3, and the deadline for confirmations will be noon on Monday, February 10.
The same day will have 2 other important races t San Isidro, with the Clásico Horacio Bustillo (G2-1600 m, turf) and the Clásico Omnium (L-1400 m, turf), for 3 years old and up and for 3 years old and up fillies and mares, respectively. The first will be under weight-for-age scale and the remaining as a descending handicap.
It is expected that there will be some important runners for the first G1 of the national season, although it has been confirmed that the Peruvian Don Feres (Singe the Turf) will not make the trip from his box in Monterrico this time.
The high costs of the trip delayed his return to San Isidro, with whom the idea is to compete in the Gran Premio 25 de Mayo (G1), with more time to find affordable flights.
