The Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo finalized its next two programs this Monday, scheduled for Sunday, March 9 and Monday, March 10.

A striking detail was the high number of canceled races, which deepens a recent trend of fewer horses in competition. No fewer than 10 races were not confirmed, although some of the race categories called are truly unusual, such as a 2200-meter grass race for 5-year-old mares that have won 1 race, or another for 6-year-old horses with 1 or 2 victories, running 1800 meters on the dirt.

Many of the cancellations occurred in races longer than a mile, where racetracks have practically stopped offering these common races for a long time, with only a few conditional options outside of handicaps or stakes, especially for winners.

On Sunday, the most significant race will be the Clásico Jamelao (L), which, at 1400 meters on the dirt, will feature 4-year-old mares and older. A total of 10 horses have been confirmed for the race.

The list looks competitive, with the following names: Emma Linda (Emmanuel), Furiosa Vis (Furious Key), Ursi Seattle (Seattle Fitz), Ingres (Galicado), Life Starts Now (Qué Vida Buena), Pecadora Joy (Fortify), Plácida Campeona (Il Campione), Isolation (Suggestive Boy), Che Salvadora (Greenspring), and Tal Hechicera (Recital).

A total of 14 races are scheduled for Sunday, starting at 2:00 PM and concluding around 8:35 PM, including a couple of 1200-meter races for 2-year-olds.

On Monday, March 10, there will be 12 races, with the Clásico Irlanda (G3-1000 m) as the main event, though strangely scheduled in the second race of the day at 3:00 PM. For example, at 6:30 PM, a race for 5-year-old winners over 1000 meters will feature the same 7 confirmed horses that participated in the prep for the Gran Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires (G3). Some decisions are hard to understand, unless the management is intent on destroying the sport.

A La Vista (Angiolo), Bingo Song (Alcindor), Yukon Jack (Remote), Lone Ranger (Le Blues), Mr. Boombastic(Lucky Island), New Jamalero (Lenovo), and Vida Amorosa (Safety Check) will run in the Irlanda.
