The Palermo de Oro Kicks Off with a Powerful Saturday of Action

The Otoño (G2), Bullrich (G2), Santiago Luro (G2), and Unzué (G2) classics feature a day of top racing

A big week is ahead at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, with three exciting meetings and a Saturday packed with action as the Campeonato de Oro begins, both for colts and fillies.

The Clásico Otoño (G2-2000m, dirt) and the Clásico Arturo R. y Arturo Bullrich (G2-2000m, dirt) headline a weekend of top racing, complemented by the Clásico Santiago Luro (G2-1200m, dirt) and Clásico Saturnino J. Unzué (G2-1200m, dirt), new select races for 2-year-old colts and fillies, respectively.

In what is considered one of the weakest editions in recent memory, the Otoño will feature: Boyero Spring(Greenspring), Chelato (Cosmic Trigger), El Darwin (Il Campione), Endo Verde (Endorsement), Endor Rye(Endorsement), Haddock (Interaction), Need You Tonight (Hat Ninja), and Operístico (Daddy Long Legs) as potential starters.

Meanwhile, 8 mares are expected to compete in the Bullrich: Bichita de Luz (Fragotero), Ceniza Pampa (Hat Ninja), It's My Look (Equal Stripes), Martana (Fortify), Mysterious Way (Brz-Agnes Gold), Noche Alta (Hi Happy), Safe With Me (Fortify), and Sarawak Rim (Remote).

The classic winners Fantasioso Pass (Distinctiv Passion) and The Great Cash (The Great Day) lead a field of 7 entries for the Luro, joined by Alado Frank (Gidu), Enigmático Key (Almendrado Key), Gran Porteñito (Dabster), Liberto(Hurricane Cat), and Vladimir (Il Mercato).

In a concerning trend, only 4 fillies are entered for the Unzué, including Sarzana Pass (Distinctiv Passion), winner of the Casares (G3). The list is completed by Flor de Laurel (Il Campione), La Farce (Emmanuel), and Roshita (Gouverneur Morris).

Another classic race will take place on Monday, March 3rd: the Clásico El Virtuoso (G3-1600m, dirt), for horses aged 3 and up, a prep for the De Las Américas - OSAF (G1).
