The Brazilian colt representing Stud RDI powered past his rivals to score comfortably in the final prep for the Gran Premio 25 de Mayo

Out of the Blue put a pair of subpar efforts firmly behind him with a resounding victory in the G3 Clásico Porteño, one of two graded stakes that highlighted a strong Saturday card at Hipódromo de San Isidro and served as the final local prep for the upcoming G1 Gran Premio 25 de Mayo.
Stretching out to 2400 meters over soft turf, the Brazilian-bred son of Drosselmeyer uncorked the same powerful late run that had carried him to victory in the Listed Clásico Tresiete last December, signaling a return to form and a clear step forward in maturity.
With Adrián Giannetti in the irons, Out of the Blue was unhurried early, settling near the back of the pack as Mister Coquette (Bodemeister) took them along at a moderate tempo. As the field began to bunch nearing the far turn, several runners—Catch the Bell, Mar de Honor, Honest Boy, and Cleopatra Kal—began applying pressure.
That’s when Giannetti let his mount roll. Finding a seam in the center of the course at the top of the stretch, Out of the Blue quickened effortlessly, mowing down Honest Boy at the 200-meter mark and kicking clear with authority.
At the wire, he held a commanding 2 1/2-length advantage over El Pulque (Heliostatic), while Cleopatra Kal delivered a career-best performance to finish a close third. Honest Boy tired to fourth, with favorite Epityrum (Portal del Alto) never factoring and checking in sixth. Final time for the 2400 meters was 2:33.45 over the testing ground.
Bred from Felka (Agnes Gold), Out of the Blue showed he has the tools to be a major player in turf marathons this season. The Stud RDI colorbearer now looms as a potential threat to follow in the footsteps of stablemate Meninho do Río (Fortify), who captured the Gran Premio 25 de Mayo (G1) two seasons ago.
