With the withdrawals of Mare Internum (Daniel Boone) and Wages (Lucullan), there are now 8 confirmed runners for the Gran Premio Miguel A. Martínez de Hoz, the first G1 of the Argentine season, set to be held on Saturday, the 15th, at Hipódromo de San Isidro over its traditional 2000-meter turf.

Open to 3-year-olds and older, the race stands out for the clash between Acento Final (Treasure Beach) and Crazy Talent (Equal Talent), both rated at 114 points and among the country's best at the distance, especially after the trips to the Middle East by Intense for Me (Fortify) and El Kodigo (Equal Stripes).

Acento Final is none other than the winner of the 2024 Gran Premio Jockey Club (G1), the second leg of the Triple Crown, and recently finished 13th in the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1), the same race where Crazy Talent placed an impressive fourth, just 1 1/4 lengths behind, closing strongly to the wire.

Before that, Crazy Talent was second to Treasure Island (Treasure Beach) in the Gran Premio Dardo Rocha (G1) and to El Kodigo in the Gran Premio General San Martín (G1), a rival who defeated when they faced each other in the Clásico Comparación (G2).

Among the confirmed entries is also 3-year-old Grezzo (Hi Happy), 8th in the Pellegrini and subsequent winner of the Clásico Botafogo (G3), a preparatory race for the Martínez de Hoz. Prior to that, he made headlines by winning the Clásico de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (G3).

Don Tigre (Cityscape) lost to Grezzo by a whisker in the aforementioned BotafogoG1 winner Epityrum (Portal del Alto) is another strong contender, along with Honest Boy (Heliostatic), second to Acento Final in the Jockey Club, who will look to bounce back after a disappointing run in the Pellegrini.

El Cid Campeador (Il Campione), winner of the Clásico de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (G3) as a colt, and the stakes winner Out of the Blue (Brz-Drosselmeyer) are also among those expected to line up.

The Martínez de Hoz will offer a purse of 70,000,000 pesos, with 35 million going to the winner, and a total entry fee of 1,400,000 pesos.

The meeting will also feature two other major events: the Clásico Horacio Bustillo (G2) (1600m, turf) and the Clásico Omnium (L) (1400m, turf), the first open to all 3-year-olds and older, and the latter for fillies and mares from 3 years onward.

The Horacio Bustillo promises an exciting spectacle with its 9 confirmed entries, including Bronx (Qué Vida Buena) and Folie Ninja (Hat Ninja), who tied for first in the Gran Premio Estrellas Mile (G1) in mid-2024.

Also among the probable contenders are Don Latido (John F. Kennedy), Estero de Ibera (Il Campione), Chanclette(Super Saver), Midnight Runner (Forge), Puerto Aventura (Suggestive Boy), Santo Varón (Sebi Halo), and The Goat (Fortify).

Meanwhile, the Clásico Omnium is no less competitive, with 11 entries including: Aiyanna (Santillano), Byron Star(Equal Stripes), Candlelit (Equal Stripes), Che Mamita (Safety Check), Dream Serena (Forge), Estrella del Día(Il Campione), Giornata (Full Mast), Look Happy (Hi Happy), Save Your Tears (Full Mast), Verenna (Cosmic Trigger), and Viva Al Sur (South Kissing).
